High quality standards

As described in other articles (e.g., here and here), low pressures and temperatures, as well as the physical properties of solid-state hydrogen systems are important to keep the hazard potential as low as possible. However, due to the large amounts of hydrogen dealt with, many of GRZ Technologies’ products are still to be handled as pressure equipment. Therefore, stringent manufacturing quality and the highest quality standards remain of utmost importance.

CE conformity #

At GRZ, we manufacture equipment which is CE-conform and compliant with the relevant directives, for example:

  • ATEX-Directive 2014/34/EU
  • Machinery Directive 2006/42 / EC
  • Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68 / EU
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30 / EU
  • Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU
  • Electrolyzers/Hydrogen ISO 22734:2019

Safety through quality #

Furthermore, already during the design phase, we ensure that choices are made that enable excellent
levels of safety:

  • The design of the equipment is defined by highly qualified engineers
  • Critical components are manufactured and tested at the company workshop
  • The design is reviewed and approved by the partnering organizations
  • It should be noted that the pressurized system design is essentially failure-free. Most of the connections in our systems are welded, therefore the entire system is permanently leak-tight.
  • All parts that are in contact with hydrogen are certified by their original manufacturers and their raw materials check is a part of the notified body complete system approval.
  • The traceability of all parts down to raw material is recorded in our ERP system.
  • All manufacturing steps such as welding, brazing, and system assembly are carried out by certified and approved personnel using approved manufacturing equipment.
  • At the end of the production cycle, all sub-components undergo an integral pressure and leak test, which ensures the highest quality requirements. The test is carried out under the supervision of a notified body.

Quality implies safety, a principle not only upheld by GRZ, but also the renowned stainless steel part manufacturer fischer group. Known for their presence in high-tech products ranging from cars to aircrafts, the fischer group has been a partner and supplier of GRZ since 2022, manufacturing components for our pressure equipment. This collaboration ensures that high-quality, reliable materials are used, enhancing the overall safety and performance of GRZ’s hydrogen storage and compression systems.
